Mackenzie Bezos

Early life

MacKenzie S. Tuttle was born on April 7, 1970, in San Francisco, California, to a financial planner father and a homemaker mother.[4] In 1988, she graduated from Hotchkiss School in Connecticut.[5]

Tuttle earned her bachelor's degree in English at Princeton University with highest honors in 1992.[6] She studied under writer Toni Morrison, who said Bezos was "one of the best students I've ever had in my creative writing classes."[4]

Personal life

In 1992, MacKenzie worked for Jeff Bezos at D. E. Shaw, a New York City hedge fund.[7] They married in 1993,[8] and moved to Seattle, Washington, in 1994. They have four children: three sons, and one daughter adopted from China.[9]

In 2014, Bezos founded Bystander Revolution, an anti-bullying organization, where she serves as executive director.[10]

On January 9, 2019, MacKenzie and Jeff Bezos announced via Twitter that they would divorce.[3] According to Forbes, if the Washington state common law applies for their divorce without prenuptial agreement, MacKenzie Bezos would become the fifth richest person in the world with a net worth of $67 billion.[11]
